Another chapter from the “gee, you don’t look old enough to be married much less have kids” annals
Monday, July 18th, 2005As I wrote about a while back, I’ve been playing ultimate frisbee fairly frequently during the past few months. I’ve become so attached to this sport that I’ve found myself practicing various throws, even when there’s no one else to throw to. YES, I’ve been known to throw the disc to NO ONE AT ALL, walk a fair distance to retrieve it, and then repeat the cycle all over again, even at my workplace in the wee hours of the morning.
In any case, the age breakdown of those who play ultimate is something as follows:
15% 30 yrs old
Several weeks ago, while I was resting on the sidelines, I was chatted up by a young co-ed who happened to fall in the “You don’t look old enough to have graduated from college.
Me: “Yeah, I get that a lot. I’m definitely blessed with looking younger than I am.”
The conversation sort of petered out after that…but if she was shocked to find out that I had already gone to school for 10 yrs after HS, she would’ve had a stroke to learn that I was married with 3 kids, one of whom isn’t THAT much younger than her.
