100 Things About Cliff

1. I am the oldest out of two children.

2. I speak two languages fluently.

3. I was born in the US even though I am full-blooded Chinese.

4. One of my lifelong dreams is to travel through each of the 50 States. I only have 6 left I haven't been through.

5. I've only lived in 5 of them though (California, Maryland, Texas, Colorado, Arkansas).

6. I've moved 15 times in my life so far.

7. 7 of those times have been since I got married.

8. I've been overseas to Europe and Asia

9. I'm not in a military family.

10. My favorite food is anything potato-related.

11. Or gummi bears.

12. I tried founding a rock band in college.

13. Even though I couldn't play guitar and could only play keyboard mediocrely.

14. I know how to develop film in a darkroom.

15. My physics teacher in high school was named Mr. Whipple.

16. I don't own stock in Charmin but we only use Scott TP.

17. I consider my two cats (MJ & Sugar Spot) members of the family.

18. I kiss my cats when I don't think anyone is watching. Only MJ kisses me back.

19. My childhood best friend Scott has been friends with me since 1st grade (that's 26 years).

20. We still keep in touch.

21. I met my wife in a chatroom.

22. It was six months before we met face to face.

23. We were engaged within a year and a half, and married within 2 and a half years.

24. I'm a convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

25. I was baptized when I was 24 yrs old.

26. I know how to drive a manual transmission.

27. I think it's sexy that my wife does too.

28. I hung out with the popular crowd in Junior High and played basketball during lunch everyday.

29. I saw the error of my ways and resumed my geekhood during HS.

30. I played role-playing games from 4th grade on throughout college.

31. I once collected comic books.

32. I went trick-or-treating while in high school. More than once.

33. If I could be any animal, I would be a peregrine falcon.

34. My first alias I ever used online was "Pee-Wee"

35. I changed my major while in college after swearing it would never happen to me. Twice.

36. I don't do any work related to the bachelor's degree I received.

37. I own and use 14 different CD players on a semi-frequent basis.

38. I hate how every electronic device I own has its own A/C adapter and I hate keeping track of them.

39. I kept my checkbook balanced to the penny for over 7 years.

40. It hasn't been balanced for the last two years.

41. I hate getting up in the morning.

42. I much prefer to stay up late at night.

43. Even though I don't get out of bed until sometime between 8 and 8:30am, I still set the alarm for 7am.

44. Which means I hit the snooze button on an average of 8 times every morning. My wife hates it.

45. I never thought I'd ever live in Texas, Colorado or Arkansas when I was growing up.

46. It turns out I love living in each of these three states.

47. I've only been skiing in Colorado twice though I lived there for four years.

48. One of those times was when I was living in Texas.

49. The longest I've ever driven in one stretch was over 600 miles in one day by myself (13 hours).

50. I've traveled along the entire stretch of I-70 from the east coast to Utah.

51. I've also traveled along the entire stretch of I-95 from Florida to Maine. More than once.

52. I didn't attend my 5 or 10 year high school reunion.

53. I can't float in water to save my life. Literally.

54. I once wrote love poetry for a woman I liked and sent them to her anonymously.

55. She ended up being one of my best friends.

56. Every serious relationship I ever had started out online.

57. I still hear from some of these friends to this day.

58. At one point in my life, I had more friends online than I did in real life.

59. Over the 2 ½ years my wife and I were dating, we emailed each other at least once everyday.

60. I still have record of all those 2000+ emails - now bound in 4 3" three-ring binders.

61. I've told women I've loved them before ever meeting them face to face. More than once.

62. I was in the Gifted and Talented Summer program during Junior High

63. One of my classmates and I programmed "The Entertainer" in BASIC on a Texas Instruments TI-4/A as a summer project.

64. I competed in table tennis at the Junior Olympics while I was in high school.

65. I thought I saw a ghost when I was staying over visiting my uncle when I was young.

66. I recently competed in a 50-mile urban adventure race and lived to tell the 15-hour ordeal.

67. I've never fired a gun of any kind in my entire life.

68. I've shot more arrows than I can count.

69. I once competed in a ballroom dance competition and made it to the finals in every event I competed in.

70. I went through twelve years of my life (age 6-18) avoiding pizza like the plague.

71. I went on a weekend camping trip once and subsided on nothing but hamburgers, hot dogs, and beer.

72. To this day, the grilled chicken salad I had immediately after returning to civilization was the best salad I've ever had.

73. I totaled my wife's (girlfriend at the time) car a week before she was going to pay it off.

74. I often eat a baked potato with sour cream & butter late at night.

75. The first rated-R movie I ever saw was Trading Places during my 18th birthday party.

76. I did sneak into a theater once and saw two movies without paying for either one.

77. As much of a geek as I am, I've never owned or used a pocket protector.

78. I loved the game of Stratego as a kid and only suffered one defeat in the dozens of times that I played it.

79. My roommate in college had a similar experience as a kid - we played each other to a draw.

80. I taught myself how to juggle in a week's time.

81. During Junior high, I thought it was my right to not say the pledge of allegiance and refrained from doing so.

82. My favorite movie that can be considered a 'guilty pleasure' is Coyote Ugly. Don't ask.

83. I once grew my hair out to mid-back length and wore it that way for several years.

84. My sister who is three years younger than I am was once taller than I was.

85. She's now 5' ½" while I'm 5'8".

86. I took voice and ballroom dance classes while in college.

87. I own enough parts to build 4 different computers right now. Only one is working.

88. I once went to the bathroom in a public place that wasn't supposed to be used for such purposes.

89. No, I'm not saying where.

90. I am semi-ambidextrous: Any sort of thrown ball I throw with my left hand, but I write with my right hand, bat RH'ed, play racket sports RH'ed, throw a frisbee RH'ed, spike a volleyball LH'ed. Again, don't ask.

91. I can't snap my fingers to save my life.

92. I first got online back in 1983 and thought a 1200 baud modem was blazingly fast since I only owned a 300 baud modem.

93. I once took a class in college where we studied fictitious fantasy worlds in literary works and created our own fictitious fantasy world.

94. In that class, I also created my own language which was based on musical notes & beats.

95. I've never broken a bone in my body. Yet.

96. I've only ever been stung my a bee once. It hurt.

97. I love bubble baths, romantic candlelight dinners, and moonlit walks.

98. I also think the NCAA basketball tourney (March Madness) is one of the most exciting times of the year.

99. In fact, I placed in the top 300 (out of 50,000 entries) in points during the Yahoo! Pick 'em for the Women's Tournament several years ago.

100. My dream is to work from home someday writing articles or stories.
