Another One Bites the Dust

I don't get it. Ok, I take that back. *Some* people don't get it. File under 'people unclear of the concept.' So I have an item up on Ebay for an auction. A day before the auction closes, I get this email:

-------

Subject: Question for seller -- Item #2780059113
Date: Tue, 13 Jan 2004 15:51:04 PST

Hello,

whats the final price you are looking for?

Thanks

-------

So I write the gentleman back and tell him that I'm looking to get as much as I can for that particular item and ask him why he is asking. Umm. Duh??? Isn't that obvious?

So then I get the following reply back:

-------

Because i am really interested in buying it.. but my budget is not that high.

Thanks

Okay. In that case I'm willing to make an exception to somebody I have no interest in and don't even know. I can get $120 for the item, but for you, I'll make an exception and take $80. I don't understand these people. It's not the first time it's happened to me either. I've had requests in previous Ebay auctions where people want me to end the auction early and sell the item to them for what they are willing to pay because they're afraid the asking price will exceed their budget. Sorry, I wasn't born yesterday. Or the day before that. Sheesh. It's an auction forcryingoutloud.

The other big news is that I finished my entertainment center earlier in the week while my brother-in-law and sister-in-law were visiting. After many months of inhaling Minwax stain fumes and polyurethane fumes, sanding my fingers raw, and then several hours of screwing nuts on the threaded rods, voila:

Another photo

And another

It came out exactly as I imagined and I feel like I accomplished quite a bit considering it was my first ever attempt at a woodworking project. Just about everyone who has seen it has lauded me with compliments. The location of my right/left speakers are only temporary for now - I intend to have them on speaker stands placed on either side of the entertainment center. But the "flexy" concept sure works great as I can adjust the smaller shelves at any height I desire without too much trouble.

And so another project of mine bites the dust. At least one that I completed. I'm still trying to decide what my next project shall be - should I resurrect my tabletop fountain or should I concentrate on modding my truck?
