Contrary to how I usually spend my weekends catching up on sleep, this weekend was actually quite productive and I accomplished everything I had slated on my "to-do" list. I woke up just after the crack of dawn yesterday morning so I could set out some stuff at our neighbor's garage sale. I ended up selling my HP Pavilion for $150 (yay!) Perhaps that money can now be put towards a new mountain bike. I also cleaned, straightened and swept our garage which was in need of a desperate cleaning. Somehow over time, the other half of the two-car garage seems to accumulate "junk." Empty boxes, various knickknacks, who-knows-what-else end up getting thrown in a heap and I finally decided that that heap HAD to go. After I got the garage cleaned out, to further straighten it out, I finally repair the flat tire on Ariel's bike and put all her bike parts back together (which also had been scattered all over the garage). The rest of Saturday was spent with a nap and going over to Co-worker Buddy's house to get in some games of darts. With the both of us being so busy lately with work and other obligations, it had been a couple of weeks since we last played, and boy did it show. We warmed up with our usual game of 301, and then progressed to Double Down (my all-time favorite), Cricket, and finished with a game of baseball. It's quite fun as we're both about the same skill level and either of us can win any given game we play. I took a pretty significant lead in Cricket and was well on my way to closing everything out until Co-worker buddy went on a run of 10 16's before I could close that out. I caught up a bit but he managed to win the game before I could surpass him. It pretty much came down to the last throw to decide the winner. Our game of baseball was close as well, as it was tied 0-0 going into the last "inning." "Batting" first, I managed to hit a bullseye (which is the equivalent of a home run) on my last at-bat (i.e. my last dart). Thinking I had the game wrapped up, I cheered out loud only to see my lead erased on his last bat. We decided to play extra innings to determine a winner and on the top of the 10th, I scored singles on my first and second dart, and then hit another homerun on my last and final dart. Now *that* wrapped up the game for good. Man, now knowing all these different dart games, there is nothing that is more fun. It's a great stress reliever and a wonderful activity to take your mind off of things. It has almost a zen-like quality where all you are focused on is the dart and the dartboard - and nothing else matters. Just for those few precious seconds, it truly is just you and the dart. Today was spent sleeping in (finally!) and then spent most of the afternoon at my table tennis league. I had fun and lost to the ppl I expected to lose to, but managed to beat the last guy I played to my utter surprise. Upcoming tomorrow: Dale Carnegie training needs assessment (yay - NOT) and volleyball! No one showed up last week, hopefully there will be more tomorrow night. I am sooooo looking forward to that.
