Epidemic Breakout
Wednesday, March 26, 2003

It's been a rough couple of days in the Li household. It all started Monday night after I returned home from playing volleyball. I felt extremely exhausted and thought it was because I had overextended myself playing volleyball. I went to bed earlier than usual feeling very very cold. On hindsight, I'm sure it was the onset of a fever since I had the chills and the shakes.

I woke up in the middle of the night feeling absolutely horrible and then realized that the reason I was feeling the way I was was probably because I was dehydrated. I logged onto WebMD.com and checked the symptoms for dehydration - I had them all. Immediately I started downing glasses of spring water which seemed to help. At least it helped me feel better than I was feeling.

Tuesday I had to go into work for an important conference call - but since I was still feeling pretty ill, I came home shortly thereafter. Spent the rest of the afternoon resting and trying to get well. At this point, the kids were still fine. Come Tuesday night, Jen was babysitting for a friend, Ariel had a friend spending the night, and Braden starts throwing up.

Since our neighbor's kids just had this stomach flu last weekend, we're pretty sure that our kids picked it up from them. By morning, Braden was feeling a bit better but Ariel was now in the early stages of the flu. And I still felt pretty blah - been running a mild fever and headache for the most part. And now Braden seems to be over the worst of it and is almost back to normal, Ariel is still battling, Jen is not feeling at all well herself, and I'm still feeling the same. It's possible I have what the kids have, but it just affected me differently, thank goodness. Either that or I was able to purge most of it out of my system through volleyball or my deluge of drinking Monday night.

With any luck, we'll all be back to normal within a few more days. And our regularly scheduled NSG will resume then.
