And I can feel it coming in the air tonight, Oh Lord
I've been waiting for this moment for all my life, Oh Lord
I can feel it in the air tonight, Oh Lord, Oh Lord
And I've been waiting for this moment all my life, Oh Lord, Oh Lord

Uh oh. I'm in trouble. I can feel It there twitching in the back of my mind. Enveloped by my greymatter, It is trying to get out. No mistaking that feeling anymore, It is coming...coming...*pop* It bursts into my consciousness like an overripe tomato. Messy and indistinguisable, the idea emerges out from a series of neurological reactions.

Father, forgive me, it's been a month since my last computer modification.

And here is the idea that has been revealed to me. I want to...no, I need to...no, I must paint my computer case. It is imperative that I do so. Constantly in a state of dissatisfaction with my computer, my selective unconscious continually plots against me seeking ways to tune it just a bit faster, tweak it just a bit [H]arder, and design it just a bit prettier. And the end result of this latest upheaval is to make my case resemble a hot rod, complete with flames, blower, and pipes. Ok, so it won't have a blower or pipes, at least not yet.

So it wasn't a completely original idea, nor was it entirely my idea to begin with as Co-worker Buddy prompted the idea himself. Ok, I admit, all the credit goes to him. The idea is completely his soulchild which means if I screw it up I can blame him (j/k!). So after arming myself with the proper Googled texts on computer case painting, after submitting my idea to the Ars masses and getting their approval, after acquring the necessary accouterments and supplies, I finally embark on this small journey of art, love, and pints of denatured alcohol (NOT the kind you drink, silly).

What started as a rough sketch on a piece of graph paper (I told you I'm an engineer - nothing goes without methodical and complete preparation):

is now becoming a reality:

My finished masterpiece is far from complete, but she is taking shape nicely. I suspect within another couple of weeks, she will be ready for her unveiling. Perhaps I should consider having an open house to display her proudly to the world. Then again, being the computer geek that I am, most likely I'll have a virtual open house instead.

And so ends the second chapter in my journey to greatness. Soon she will join my Zeitheim in my legacy of Lifelong Masterpieces, only until I decide to mod my other computer case in the future. That is, perhaps in another month or so.
