Okay, okay, we get the message!! I'm screaming this to the heavens from the deepest chasms in my heart. I'm not sure what the message is, but we surely don't need another foot problem this year, or for the next decade for that matter. First was the cleverly disguised plantar wart that I had, and it had me in pain for weeks on end until I could stand it no longer. Then Jen had to attempt the longstanding slapstick "slipping on a banana peel only not a banana peel" routine. And then I tried my best to follow in her "foot"step by spraining my ankle as well. As if that wasn't enough - I honestly think people should have to wait at least five years between crutch sessions - Jen turned her foot last night walking home from our next-door neighbor's house. Only this time it wasn't a sprain. Yes, bygeorge, she fractured one of her ankle bones this time. Good thing we hadn't returned the crutches we had borrowed from a co-worker of mine. Good thing we still have the air cast she used last time. Good thing my ankle is just about all healed up. Otherwise we may have our kids caring for us long before we're elderly and disabled. Jen's foot is in a splint right now until we can make it into the orthopedic clinic tomorrow. But it definitely looks like the burden of packing and moving falls onto me now. As much of a pain moving is, I'm not sure I would trade that responsibility for a pain in the ankle though. Excuse me while I go and tend to Mrs. Hopalong again.
