T-minus two weeks and counting Whereas Raid the Rock was a physically, psychologically, and emotionally draining achievement, it will be nothing compared to what I have been waiting for for several weeks now. Two weeks left - is that enough time to start training? I guess it's never too late to train for any sort of marathon. I was counting on carrying over the fitness level I achieved during Raid the Rock to my upcoming marathon, but I suppose I should have trained more. I've already started to make food preparations for my upcoming endeavor. Since Ensure, Gatorade, and Snickers bars worked so well for me during RtR, I will probably be going the same route this time. I'm already planning on stocking a cooler that I can dig into during breaks. The best thing this time is that I will not be experiencing the marathon by myself as Co-worker Buddy will be joining me. What a great thing to be able to do this with one of my best friends. That way we will be able to reminisce on the experience day after day long after it is over. It definitely will be a once in a lifetime opportunity to do this with my best friend by my side. I can already tell you that it will be just as (if not more) physically, psychologically, and emotionally draining once it's all over and done with. The anticipation for this event has been building now for years, and I'm not sure how I'll be able to deal with it the night before the big event. I know for a fact that I need to get a decent night's rest. In fact, in order to prepare for the multiple-hour marathon, I plan on sleeping well into the morning before the start. That's the plan anyway. I'll probably be too excited and anxious to get much sleep though. Will I set any records in attempting my first marathon of this kind? I seriously doubt it. Will I even survive to finish it? Oh definitely. You can count on that. All I know is that it will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Wish me & Co-worker Buddy the best of luck! We'll definitely need it during our 12+ hour long . . . . . . . . . . . .
