Am I a total geek, or what? I stopped off at the post office today and saw a car parked there with a personalized license plate that said, "SSL." My first thought? SSL = secure socket layering. Then it occurred to me much later that perhaps they were really that person's initials. Duh. It sure wasn't the first time something like that happened to me, that's for sure. * * * * * Jen and I went and saw Return of the King Friday night. And I must say it rocked just as much as the first time I saw it. Except for one part. Whereas the 'perfect' movie experience was ruined the first time I saw it with Orlando Bloom groupies, this time it was ruined by some idiotic moron in the back row that shouted out "This movie sucks!" during the final scene as the hobbits saw Frodo and Bilbo off to Valinor. Oh, and the woman two rows in front of us that seemed to giggle loudly at every line. What gives? We still had an awesome time and Jen enjoyed the movie tremendously. Even she said she'd definitely have to see it again to take in the fast-paced battle sequences. And we had great seats since she got there early to save a seat for me! * * * * * Another busy weekend here - spent a good part of the day on Saturday staining the pieces of wood that will go into making my entertainment center. All that is left to do is seal the stain with some polyurethane and then assembling it together. It's going to something like this when it's all said and done:
I'm desperately trying to get it finished before the in-laws and family arrive on Wednesday. Co-worker buddy also came over Saturday afternoon for some fast and furious table tennis action. * * * * * As we've bought a house and two cars this year, Christmas presents for me and Jen will be pretty much non-existant this year. However, we couldn't pass up the opportunity to buy tickets to see Prairie Home Companion with Garrison Keillor which will be broadcasting live from Hot Springs, Arkansas on Saturday, February 7th. You NPR fans will know what I'm talking about. We're also hoping to make a day of it, traveling down either Friday and spending the night, or spending Saturday night there and coming back Sunday. Jen is seriously wanting some spa action while we're there. I wonder if I should've taken the hint when she tried time and time again at the office holiday party gift exchange to get the office chair massage cushion. In fact, more than one person remarked that I must be failing in my husbandly duties. Ok, ok, I get the hint, sweetie. * * * * * Two more days of work and then I'll have some time off. I can't wait. I seriously seriously cannot wait.
