April 11, 2003 I decided to stop doing a pure weblog like this and go strictly with journal entries so please go here to read the latest updates. The micro-management of keeping this weblog up to date was just getting to be too much of a pain in the ass. Please update your links if you have me linked - and I hope you will still continue to visit! 11:28pm CST |

I apologize for the lack of *any* entries since we left for our trip. The trip was a huge success and everyone had
a lot of fun. Both Jen & I got the opportunity to visit with old college buddies, the bachelor party ROCKED (can I just say
8-person Halo kicks ass?), and the
wedding was absolutely beautiful. We did quite a bit of sightseeing as well, and brought home many wonderful memories.
I'm in the process of writing a journal entry about the entire trip and I'll finish that when I have time. Just wanted to
let y'all know that we made it back safe and sound.
I definitely think I found a new hobby though - how come no one has ever told me how much fun it is to play darts? I picked up
an electronic dartboard at Target for <$4 on clearance last week and both Co-worker Buddy and I (as well as Jen & Ariel) have
gotten loads of hours of fun out of it. Ok, I admit - playing darts is one reason my writing has taken a backseat since
we returned from our trip. But it sure is fun! Be sure and check out your local Targets if you have any - they are having a
pretty big 75% sale right now on just about everything to make way for new inventory.

Ok...I'm off to the glorious state of Texas for what will hopefully be a nice family vacation!! We'll be staying in
Dallas tonight and tomorrow night with one of Jen's college roommates and then driving down to Austin Sunday afternoon. I'm
looking forward to visiting some old college buddies of mine as well, and attending my good friend Clay's wedding. The
bachelor party is scheduled for Thursday night and since we're all a bunch of computer geeks, we'll be playing XBox all
night in a rented out hotel conference room. :D
While we're there, I intend to visit campus, take Jen & the Kiddos to see the Texas Hill Country, take them to Zilker Park and
see Barton Springs pool. And last but not least, go into my very first Fry's Electronics store.
You can see where *my* priorities lie. We'll be back a week from Sunday on the 19th. See y'all when I get back! It's possible
that I might be able to do some updates while I'm there, but I'm not promising anything.

Added a bunch of miscellaneous family pictures to my photo
pages. Also posted some pictures that were taken over the Christmas
holidays. :) Be sure & check them out! Make sure you click on each
picture for a larger sized one.
Other
than that, we've been preparing for our trip to Austin. And at work
I've been desperately trying to get some riverine modeling done so our
client will have results to look at while I'm gone. Fun, fun, fun. Not.
I
am *waaaaay* excited to return to Austin though - it's been about 7
years since I've been there and I'm excited to show Jen & the Kiddos
where I spent 6 wonderful years of my life.

Sleep. I desperately need some long, qualitative, uninterrupted slumber.
Why?
Perhaps
the fact that Co-worker Buddy & I stayed up all night Saturday night
from 10pm-6am playing Serious Sam
has something to do with it. This was perpetuated by the fact that it
took longer than I planned to get our network set up and working. I
think by the time we got it set up (almost to the point of frustration
and exasperation), we were going to make it count. We sure had a blast
playing though. Definitely something we'll have to do again.
Finally
starting to get back into the swing of things at work - it's always
difficult to go back to work and get running smoothly (& stay properly
motivated) after a long break. Of course I'll be gone next week as well
- so I'll be going through the reacclimatization (is that a word?) all
over again in a couple of weeks.
Ok...off
to meet Mr. Sandman...more when I'm lucid and not foggy.

I hope everyone had a Happy New Year!! Ours was celebrated without much
fanfare or ado. I had definitely enjoyed the time I had off from work though.
After
my family left, I had a Band of Brothers marathon. I
managed to watch all 10 episodes over a period of two days (6 hrs the first day, 4 the second). I had to cram it
all in because I had rented it from Blockbuster video. But that's what
time off is for, right? What an incredible series - I highly recommend it to
anyone. Even after ten hours, I didn't want it to end. It gives a great sense of
what our soldiers went through and fought for during World War II.
Co-worker
buddy's wife will be gone this weekend so we're planning on some quality
Guy Time (TM). That of course entails watching mindless action flicks with
guys running around with big guns and fast cars *as loud as we want*,
and some LAN gaming goodness. That's the plan anyway.
I hope y'all
have a great weekend as well!! Happy 2003 to all!!
